Fees and Insurance

I am an “out of network” provider, which means if your insurance company offers out of network benefits, you should receive some reimbursement for the cost of therapy. Because I am not an in-network provider, this means that your insurance cannot set limits on frequency or duration of therapy sessions and can not prevent you from obtaining the treatment you deserve.

Many insurance companies that provide out-of-network benefits cover between 50%-75% of the cost per session.  Contact your insurance company to find out what your specific coverage is and if you have “out-of-network” benefits. I will provide you with a superbill monthly that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. You may also want to inquire about your deductible so you know exactly what to expect.

When thinking about insurance, you might want to consider the fact that many managed care companies make determinations of whether or not continued mental health treatment is necessary and therefore coverable, all without ever meeting you or your therapist. Also, for insurance to cover therapy, it is required that you be given a psychiatric diagnosis. I am happy to discuss the process with you in greater detail directly as insurance policies and processes can be confusing and overwhelming.

Regarding payment, I am paid directly at each session unless we've come up with an alternative plan together. I accept cash, checks, bank transfer, and credit card.

For a 45-minute individual therapy session, Cindy’s current fee is $220 per session. For a 60-minute couples therapy session, Cindy’s current fee is $240 per session. Confidentiality

Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance to me as a practitioner.

I will not acknowledge that you are in therapy with me unless you provide me with written permission to do so. I am ethically and legally bound to keep all therapy related material that you share with me confidential except in three very important, legally mandated, exceptions:

1. Your statements lead me to suspect child, dependent adult, or elder abuse.

2. Your statements lead me to suspect that you have an intention to inflict bodily harm on yourself or on another human being.

3. I am ordered to as a result of legal court proceedings (which happens exceedingly rarely).

In all instances, every effort will be made to discuss things with you first before anyone else gets involved. Information offered will be kept to the minimum required and where a solution is available that does not include others that will always be the first choice.

In the instance of being required to participate in court proceedings by providing written or oral statements, session notes, etc, there will be a charge incurred. For court appearances, whether or not your therapist is required to testify, you will be charged $2,000 for the day. I highly encourage that you consider carefully whether or not to utilize your therapist’s testimony in court proceedings. In these instances, your confidentiality may be lost and a therapeutic rapport and alignment can be damaged. In many instances, it is not possible to continue therapy with your therapist because of the damage done to the therapeutic relationship. Court preparation of documents that do not require a therapist to physically attend will be charged at a rate of $250/hour for the first two hours and $350/hour for each subsequent hour.

With your express written consent, I do welcome the opportunity to collaborate with any others of your health providers in order to provide the best and most comprehensive treatment possible. Should you have more questions regarding your confidentiality please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your concerns in more detail.
